How much is enough

Reflections from a mountain top

How much do we need?

As dentists, we are caught in the conundrum of serving our community and running a business

It’s challenging.

I recently listened to this podcast and if nothing else it’s worth listening from 51:20 minutes where Rainn Wilson talks about feeling “anxious discontent” when instead he should have spent his time thinking “it doesn’t get better than this”.

The same week I had some ads pop up promoting a leadership (dental) guru who promised I could begin earning between $900 and $2000 per hour!

How much is enough?

Do we need to be earning $2000 per hour?

Now obviously dental practices are expensive businesses to run. However at what point do we have enough and at what point do we tip over into the upsell of whitening/ cosmetic full arch rehab clinical space, whatever it might be. Or not take as much time with our patients and always be in a rush to move onto the next thing.

What’s reasonable, and what’s best for our patients and the communities we serve?

When do we become slaves to the spreadsheet ? That or our management program/ business mentor?

It’s all a question of balance and checking in to see who you are letting influence you.

Take time to reflect on the fortunate position we are in as dental professionals.

“If you go through life believing that happiness is somewhere in your future, it always will be – it will never be where you are now.”

Steven Bartlett

In the meantime this is my week:

Have a great week and don’t forget to share with a dental friend
